This is what happens when black women use chemicals in thier hair.
    You asked for this!

  2. samlammd September 9, 2008 at 1:12 am #

it wasn’t chemicals in this case but too tight a braiding.

Wow… Her hair is destroyed. She most likely had a few bad relaxing treatments, one right after the other.

  4. hollyhollyrose September 28, 2008 at 4:11 pm #

Oh… Braiding did this to her hair? She might as well had just stuck to keeping her hair in an afro… Man that sucks!

alopecia is RARE for black women.

We just like to pretend that we have a genetic issue instead of admit that relaxers and tight braids/weaves are the problem

yes. we talk about going natual, but we must also look at how we treat our hair! My last braids were done fabulously, but they done this way too tight!! It was killing me!!! I had to take them out. This cause damage to the hair. Now I have locks, and I must be careful when retwisting the front, since the hair is so soft, and hair line weak. WE MUST LEARN TO GIVE OURSELVES SCALP MASSAGES TO STIMULATE THE BLOOD VESSELS. This promotes growth.

if scalp massages work, that is fine. don’t know too much about that except i use them to relax tight scalps after numerous donor harvests for hair restoration. one thing that is definite is too tight a braid can cause permanent hair loss in any race or gender. thanks for the comments!

I admire what you do. I always said that if I wasn’t so afraid of blood and needles I would have went into the cosmetic surgery field :0) What is the best way to approach the plastic surgeons in my area who turn down women who can’t get hair transplants. I have a friend who does permanent makeup and she told me many women can’t get the transplant. I can give these women a temporary option with my Net Weaving method.

I have 18 years of braiding and weaving experience. I have learned to take care of the hair underneath the hair extension. Women you also need to speak up to your stylist it’s okay to say “hey this braid is to tight” or ‘could you sew a little looser.” I would rather take a track out and re-sew it rather than cause damage to my clients hair. I constantly ask my customers ” are you okay is this too tight?” I don’t want my customers to be in pain.

many surgeons are ignorant of treating women because they are unaccustomed on how to do female hair work as well as on how to counsel women with how to manage their hair loss to begin with. i cater to a huge diversity of women, probably 20 to 30% or more of my hair transplant business.

my hairling i think is permanently damaged from tight braids and weaves and alittle bit of genetics too. and i’m natural for almost 2 years.

have you ever did a procedure due to a patient with triangular alopecia….well thats what i think is wrong i had a biopsy done, but results came back normal so the doctor said it could jus be congential… i never realized i had this problem until one day i got my hair cut even all over and was getti

  23. datgurld45 June 14, 2011 at 3:18 am #

and the sides were missing it grows back slow..with thin fine hairs..which you can see thru ta my scalp i did my. research… and that is the hairs i guess that covered it up..to mention i am now 20 been dealing with this since i was 17 i can email you photos…

  24. samlammd June 14, 2011 at 3:30 am #

@datgurld45 dr. david whiting in dallas is literally the authority on unusual hair loss situations. i would trust his biopsy results. if they are normal, we can do a transplant. :)
